Penan, 1987
Scope and Contents
"Color, glossy. “Visit to the Penan” as scheduled by tour during day trip to the caves, which had been newly opened. Staple foods are provided to the Penan by Park officers. Visitors sometimes bring gifts and buy handicrafts from those in the “Penan village.” The longhouse, built by the government, is entirely unlike Penan houses. The inhabitants are on display, part of a “cultural show,” in a travesty of Penan independent and lively life."
