Biographical / Historical

"Adelheid (Heidi) Munan has been a Sarawak resident since about 1965, on leaving New Zealand (having been originally from Switzerland) and marrying Sidi Munan, an Iban active in Sarawak political life. She is an outstanding professional writer with many books and articles well published. Enclosed is an article on the bead cap worn by upper-class Kelabit women, published in the Sarawak Museum Journal (Vol. XXXII (53) (New Series), 1983: 83–96.

Henry Gana Ngadi was an Iban editor and scholar who was completing his Ph.D. studies in Anthropology at Hull University when he was stricken with an inoperable stomach cancer while back in Sarawak, where he died suddenly in 1996. He was mourned by both the Sarawak community and the community of outside researchers who had felt for him sincere respect and affection. His Ph.D. thesis, on Iban ritual, was supervised by Victor King, a long-time Sarawak researcher."
