Scope and Contents

Subseries contains envelopes for telegrams and wireless messages from the mid-nineteenth through late twentieth centuries. Notable items include two illustrated envelopes from the International Electrical Exhibition in Philadelphia (1884); an envelope transported by the Pony Express for James Street, an agent of the Central Overland Telegraph Co. (1861); an envelope from the British Postal and Telegraph Censorship Department’s Ministry of Information during World War II (1940); as well as envelopes for Western Union Special Greetings.
