Includes a photocopy of a letter from Howland to her father, mentioning the near completion of Ezra Cornell's house, and a letter from Mary Jane in which she discusses taking black children from Sunday School for a ride in Central Park, and her feelings towards Freedmen. Also included are letters from Cornell students, such as Julia Thomas and Susie Hoxie. Correspondents include Lillie Blake, Emma V. Brown, Theodosia G. Chaplin, C.A. Comstock, Sidney Taliaferro, and Mary Taliaferro, among others.
